28.02.2020: Colors of the European North. Murmansk. Solo exhibition 2020 till 23.03.2020
As a member of the Union of Artists, Bachelor of Contemporary Art, Sergei Opuls takes part in open airs every year or leads them when artists work in nature, drawing from nature in different parts of our country and abroad.
The artist's old dream was the northern countries, the Barents Sea and the fjords, the Kola Bay and the tundra. The painter explored these beautiful places with a brush on canvas for several years, and in 2019 the artist held an arctic open air in Murmansk and the Murmansk region.
These works are particularly honorable and important to present to the citizens of Murmansk.
The European north plays with words and meanings in the name of the exhibition. On the one hand, the Russian language has had a stable expression "European North" since the Soviet era. This sentence has a special historical Soviet meaning, whereby "European" can only be geographical
Part of the USSR is in Europe. These are of course Karelia, the Murmansk region, the Arkhangelsk region, the Komi Republic, the autonomous Okrug of the Nenets and the Vologda region.
On the other hand, in modern Russian there is an unstable combination of the words "European North", which corresponds directly to the expression "Northern Europe".
Sergey Opuls painted on the one hand and on the other hand, the viewers will see these pictures in the exhibition with their own eyes. The painterly material thus combines the verbal material in an art exhibition and possibly on a wall.
Almost all pictures are for sale and can be picked up from the wall. Details and prices on request.
