|Series of "Hindu Kush". The Hindu Kush elm|
(2010, canvas, oil, 80 x 100 сm)
In the East an elm is called the Sacred Tree. The elm is related to the Siberian cedar. This tree is already 200 years old, it is the only tree that grows in that mountain valley and it has its owner.
A tree is transmitted from generation to generation. When the tree dies they make carved doors or tables from it. Elm wood itself is as hard as boxwood, because its wood is wrapped and twisted. On the northern side of the tree there are always placed stones that prevent avalanches from the mountains to break the tree. There is a path near the elm that people have been walking for two hundred years.
The Golden Eagles build their nests only on the elms. Nobody can shoot them - it would be a great sin. Perhaps this elm was a nest, too :)
Who are the heroes of the pictures, where are they going? There is no answer because the decision is up to you....

The artist’s task is to make an order from chaos. You collect details, look for the general line, organise. You give sense to the senseless facts. You spread out a puzzle from pieces of the world around. You mix and reorganise. You combine. You arrange. You screw together. (Chak Palanik. A diary)
