|Church of the Saint Anna of Kashin.|
(1996, cardboard, oil, 22 x 32 cm)
Holy Right-believing Princess Anna of Kashin was a daughter of Prince Dmitry Borisovich of Rostov.
The Holy Princess has been preparing for monasticism throughout her life. After her husband's demise she was plagued by misfortune and it seemed impossible to withstand, but Anna has got through everything. “She had a masculine nature inside the women's body”- that's what the Church says about St. Anna's mental fortitude. She is the only saint in the Russian Orthodox Church which was canonized twice (in 1650 and 1908).
In 1910, a Church in St. Petersburg was sanctified of the name of Saint Anna of Kashin.
The two-store church with two holy-tables in the neo-Russian style was built in honor of the birth of an heir - Tsarevich Alexei. by diocesan architect A. Aplaksin.
